Totes Awesome Channel is celebrating one year of existence this week!
I celebrate with Bob.
I’m reading two memoirs simultaneously and they’re both set in New York with overlapping time frames. Remind me not to do that again because though, I’m enjoying both reads, they’re hard to separate in my mind.
This is my third memoir of Ruth Reichl. I am evidently reading her life backwards. It’s pretty good but my favorite of her memoirs so far is Garlic and Sapphires.
I’ve heard mention of this book from Ashley quite often and I got this from the university library months ago. Finally got around to reading it on the plane from Austin to Vegas. I really love it so far.
I am back from Vegas and being back at work has been hard and boring this week. I’m comforting myself by looking up attractions in Pittsburgh. My trip to see my sister for the first time in nearly two decades is in just a month! Have you been to Pittsburgh? What should I see and eat? The closest I’ve been to Pittsburgh is the Amish Country in eighth grade for a field trip and a visit to Philly in college.
Last night I made a decadent dinner. One pound of bacon, eight cloves of garlic, half a stick of butter, and a pound of pasta are the bulk of the ingredients. BACON AND BUTTER. Here you go. Don’t forget to work out or something.
This morning before work, I watched an episode of “Bizarre Foods in America” and they did a feature on Seattle. I’m going for my first visit in September so I looked for a convenient way to take notes. I was still bleary-eyed and cozy with a sleepy Bob. I had just shut down the laptop in front of me, the phone is in the bedroom, and my journal is in the kitchen. So yeah, I took notes on my left hand.
Looking forward to hunting down my first experience of squid intestines!
Last week, I blogged about Best Dudie Friend finding my Sketchbook Project 2012 at Brooklyn Museum of Art. My friend, Jennifer tracked my sketchbook down in Portland! If you happen to be in these cities during the corresponding tour dates, I’d love to have a picture of you with my sketchbook. (You can look me up by the handle, “curiousnotions”.) If you’re a blogger and want to submit a guest post about your city’s Sketchbook event, I’ll happily take those too!
