We Lost a Pop Legend Today

This is a pretty high quality video of a live performance in Munich. Pretty crazy. At around 4:30 pm, I saw that he was taken to the hospital for cardiac arrest. I’m in my car at 5:15 pm and Alan and Sae had both texted me telling me “MJ died.” I texted Sae back and told him that he’s probably going to make it. Sae’s response: “His death was just confirmed.” Not but 10 minutes later the hip hop station I was listening to interrupted their programming mid song and announced Michael Jackson’s death. They then commenced playing Michael Jackson for 3 songs straight. It was still playing Jackson songs when I started to test the other radio stations and they were all playing his songs. My colleague told me later tonight that MJ songs were being played on her Christian radio station. I had goosebumps listening to his songs this evening.

RIP, Michael Jackson.

Smileeeee like You Mean it

I think last night is the best performance of the Killers’ I’ve been to. I didn’t like some of the songs on their new album but hearing it live does make a big difference. I’m swayed! Plus, it’s the Killers. We have history. Alan bought us floor tickets for Christmas so I could actually see Brandon’s face clearly. Mmmm. Brandon Flowers’s face. They played my favorite song, For Reasons Unknown and the crowd LOVED Mr. Brightside, second to their reaction to what Alan calls the Rock Band song, When You Were Young.

Needless to say, I had a BLAST. Happily, Alan enjoyed himself too despite himself.

I love them live.

He's an alright boyfriend, isn't he?

How to Crank That.

My coworker who sits behind me behind a wall starts laughing. She comes over to my neck of work and between laughter told me she thought of me when her son (who’s 8, by the way) tried to teach her how to Crank That last night. She said this was right up my alley. I actually find the instructional video for it. haha :) My roomie really likes that song. He doesn’t know but I’m going to make us practice this in front of our living room mirror.

Come and go

Kim came over Thursday night and spent the weekend with me and we party hard all the live long day (and night) during ACL weekend. We had Din Ho Saturday before we went to ACL and above you see our fortunes. Kim’s silly and mine was eerily apt.

In the span of 2 months I’ve had 2 falling-outs with 2 friends I held quite dearly to my heart. They were truly A-listers. Both kind of blind-sighted me because I didn’t think they were even capable of hurting me. Call me naive. I think I said good bye to the 2nd aforementioned person last night? It’s hard to tell because he actually seems sincerely sorry. So we may have a future but I doubt we’d be as close as we were. We were just friends but he knows the gravity of my trust issues with men and mid-apology the 2nd time we talked after the initial falling out incident, he told me, “I hope this doesn’t further affect your opinion of men; they’re not all like me.” Makes me sick. I think that’s why I have such commitment phobia… You just never know. In the end, everyone is alone. In the end, we’re the only ones responsible for our own happiness.

Last night I was on my balcony with Kim and Si Nae and I can’t quite remember what we were talking about (sign of a very good conversation) but I started a sentence, “I have a lot of friends who- “ Then it hit me and I interrupted myself, “wait, no I don’t!”

Ha.

ghost riding the whip

my favorite new thing of the week this week. (more new things from past week soon to come)

I didn’t even know what ghost riding the whip was until Bill explained. We did it twice, both to my new favorite song, “Let’s Get Buck In Here”

Flip Happy Killers

New things of the week all occurred over the weekend.

Friday night after work and while fighting a virus, Thomas, Randy, Carol, Julie, and I (2 couples and yours truly, the fifth wheel) went to a killer KILLERS concert (such clever word play!) Follows are three obligatory blurry concert photos. They were absolutely awesome. My voice is still gone from belting. They were monsters. Kept going and going and didn’t take any breaks! An A+ performance. I still have them on repeat in my car, that’s how enthralled I am. After the show, I bought my first thirty dollar concert t-shirt. Now I can wear them on my skin. You can’t see me as I’m typing this but I’m beaming.

Next day I took Thomas and Julie to a CUTE crepe place I’ve been meaning to try for weeks now. They make the crepes in a TRAILER and FlipHappy Crepes is such a fun and fitting name for this digs. I want to go at night now when the Christmas lights are on. I now have a new place to take visitors. The crepes were delicious. I had the chicken, caramelized onions, scallions, and Gruyere savory crepe and a Nutella, banana and strawberry sweet crepe. Mmm mmm. My stomach is getting angsty just thinking about it.
