Friday 7 Quick Takes (vol 36)

1.

It’s April Fools’ Day and also my dad’s birthday today. I’m going home to Houston to spend some time with him. Can’t wait to see him! Am planning on recording him for some vlogs. If you have any topics you want me to give him, please comment!

2.

I went out to a weekly karaoke event last night at a bar. My friend was belting out Cee Lo Green on stage when a random guy grabbed my friend’s drink off our table, threw out the straw and almost drank out of it. Quick to react, I grabbed the drink from him and told him it was not his drink and he must know that, otherwise why is he throwing out the straw? He didn’t say anything but I was still stunned that someone could be that cheap or broke or desperate for a free drink.

3.

I got home pretty late last night and checked twitter and saw my friends over at VEDA (Vlog Every Day in August) are informally at it again. Cept, this time it’s Vlog Every Day in April! I was kind of in a bind as I didn’t have my webcam at Alan’s and I’m going to Houston straight after work. So I have a pretty off the cuff vlog with very minimal editing (I used Youtube’s editor to add two clips together.)

Video is embedded below. Topic was “Best Prank.”

On Tuesday, I went to a launch party for Austin Food Blogger Alliance. It was fun to actually mingle in person with people I’ve tweeted with for a while. I’ve since applied for membership for Girl Eats World and am nervous about not getting in!

5.

Regarding the previous take, I was a bad blogger and only took two photos at the launch party.

Great turn out at the launch party

6.

I’m drawing a blank for a take so here’s a photo from last weekend. I’m sporting a hint of an Asian Flush and am actually drinking JUST cranberry juice. Man, I party hard!

7.

This week’s moments of bliss: ♥ care packages from my parents ♥ creating a loose itinerary for my trip to Boston in May ♥ spontaneous week night date night ♥ dancing with my dude ♥ catch up phone calls conversations with long distance friends that last longer than an hour

Question: What was the worst April Fools’ prank you’ve encountered?

  • BDF

“Good morning, this is Bernard Shaw, Director of Operations for the University of Texas. Its come to our attention from fellow co-workers that….”

Love it. Happy April fools day, deese. :) mulu.

  • Jessilyn

When my sisters were younger, they were sleeping and I duct-taped their hands to their beds and yelled that the house was on fire.

Your friend in the white shirt in Take 6 looks like Bradley Cooper!

Happy Friday and Happy birthday to your dad, Linda! :)

  • Linda

    BDF,
HYLYMY! Glad you had fun prank calling me.
    – Linda

    Jessilyn,
WHAT?!?!? lol what a splendid/horrible April Fools’ joke.

Hah! I think I have a vague memory of him telling me he gets told that. I will have to check.

Happy Friday and be careful! ;)
    – Linda

  • where are the topics for VEDA? :) i only saw links to 2010 posts!

  • Linda

    Suki,
it was informally and loosely agreed upon via twitter that today’s topic is pranks. Don’t know what tomorrow’s would be. may have to branch out on my own with my lack of internet.

can’t wait to see your face!

    – Linda

  • I’m sad you didn’t let me post up our picture =( But I do respect your wishes. I hope to get a better one on our lunch date!!

    • Linda

      Julie,
I know, I’m so mean! ;) Can’t wait to lunch with you and Michelle.
      – Linda

  • Good luck with the Alliance membership. They’d be crazy not to accept you! Loving the vlogs.

  • Linda

    Danielle,
    Thanks dear! Keeping fingers crossed.
    – Linda

  • The last San Francisco clip in the video was great. Yeah I really need to pull more practical stunts.

      Rafael,
Beware, it usually incites war! :)
