In comparison to 2008, 2009 was awful! The one thing I can think of that 2009 had over 2008 was that I read more than double the books I read in 2008. I’m anticipating the fresh feel of a new year that is 2010. In the meantime, here’s a review of how my year has gone with heavier emphasis on my blessings verses my misfortunes.

August

  • The first two weeks of August, I tried to squeeze in as much time as I can with Alan because he was about to leave for Korea for up to 4.5 months.
  • Starting, August 16, I started counting days Alan was gone.
  • Kim came to visit the weekend of the 22nd and we saw Wicked.
  • I saw 500 Days of Summer three times this month, in theatre, of course. This is the first movie I’ve done that.
  • Jon visited from NYC.
  • I got a part-time, part-time (yes you read that right) job, thanks to Brittany dropping a good word for me.

I’m a blessed girl. Instinctively, I’d tell you my 2009 was pretty awful but when I write it all out like this and focused on the good rather than the bad, I can see now I’m still quite lucky. Farewell, 2009.

Tell me how your year went. Or better yet, if you have a year in review entry, I’d love to read yours.

I think last night is the best performance of the Killers’ I’ve been to. I didn’t like some of the songs on their new album but hearing it live does make a big difference. I’m swayed! Plus, it’s the Killers. We have history. Alan bought us floor tickets for Christmas so I could actually see Brandon’s face clearly. Mmmm. Brandon Flowers’s face. They played my favorite song, For Reasons Unknown and the crowd LOVED Mr. Brightside, second to their reaction to what Alan calls the Rock Band song, When You Were Young.

Needless to say, I had a BLAST. Happily, Alan enjoyed himself too despite himself.

I love them live.

Last night Alan and I went to the Killers concert here in Austin. It’s my third time seeing them live and I had an AMAZING time. I was apprehensive since I haven’t really enjoyed their last album but they rekindled my passion for them. Flower is so damn sexy to me. I like how he touches his chest sometimes when he sings as if to say, “mine” or “my heart.” Ryan Gosling does that same thing in Notebook. I took lots of photos of their performance, will share them tonight.

In the meantime…

Thomas and Matt sent me videos and links today that made me laugh out loud. I’ll share.

New things of the week all occurred over the weekend.

Friday night after work and while fighting a virus, Thomas, Randy, Carol, Julie, and I (2 couples and yours truly, the fifth wheel) went to a killer KILLERS concert (such clever word play!) Follows are three obligatory blurry concert photos. They were absolutely awesome. My voice is still gone from belting. They were monsters. Kept going and going and didn’t take any breaks! An A+ performance. I still have them on repeat in my car, that’s how enthralled I am. After the show, I bought my first thirty dollar concert t-shirt. Now I can wear them on my skin. You can’t see me as I’m typing this but I’m beaming.

Next day I took Thomas and Julie to a CUTE crepe place I’ve been meaning to try for weeks now. They make the crepes in a TRAILER and FlipHappy Crepes is such a fun and fitting name for this digs. I want to go at night now when the Christmas lights are on. I now have a new place to take visitors. The crepes were delicious. I had the chicken, caramelized onions, scallions, and Gruyere savory crepe and a Nutella, banana and strawberry sweet crepe. Mmm mmm. My stomach is getting angsty just thinking about it.
