Angel Oak in South Carolina

Angel Oak

3688 Angel Oak Rd.
Johns Island, SC

I was going through my old photos to post a Throw Back Thursday on my Instagram account when I found photos from last July when I was road tripping through the Carolinas by myself. I drove to Charleston, South Carolina specifically to visit Angel Oak. Standing at 65 feet tall and believed to be over 1,500 years old, Angel Oak is by far the most magical tree I’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing in person.

If you are ever in the area or are like me and just want to be in the area, they are open 9-5 and charge no admission.

Wow, that is so beautiful! The trees in the south seem especially beautiful!! That is great that you were able to see this while you were in the Carolinas!!

  • whoa.. that tree is massive! i’ve never seen a tree that old.. or maybe i have? at least, not in the u.s. i haven’t. great photos!

next time you’re in southeast asia, stop by cambodia and check out the trees that have overtaken the ancient Angkor ruins in Ta Prohm. It’s really cool.

    • Ah, it’s been over ten years since I’ve been to southeast asia. Maybe in the next two years! Sigh sigh sigh.
