Friday 7 Quick Takes (vol 37)

I’m going to San Angelo, Texas today for the weekend to meet up Alex and Hillary (high school classmates) for our biannual/triannual girls’ weekend. Last time, I hosted. It’s Hillary’s turn this time. I’ve never driven to San Angelo and it’s a 3.5 hour drive. I’m nervous. I noticed small towns have different kinds of roads with the same numbers. Farmer’s Rd 21 is different from Texas Highway 21, which is different from Business 21. Hrm.

For those of you without video capabilities, I mentioned popular movies from the 80s I haven’t seen. I listed Star Wars, The Goonies, and I couldn’t remember if I’ve seen Back to the Future. Alan said we’re remedying the Back to the Future memory lapse soon. Also the two of us finally saw Stand by Me last week.

What popular movies have you not seen?

For years, every Friday I sing to myself, “It’s Friday, it’s Friday!” Now, I sing the same thing but to the awful Rebecca Black tune. Gah! She’s now in my head all day every Friday.

Good news! I got my acceptance email from Austin Food Bloggers Alliance for Girl Eats World. Now I just need to hop back on that food blogging horse and also pay membership dues to finalize my membership. I’m ecstatic to be more involved with the amazing food community of Austin. (They totally raised over $11,000 last weekend for Japan.) Some of these bloggers are super human, juggling all their writing, events, day jobs, and families.

This month my little from Big Brothers & Big Sisters and I will have been together for three years. I met her as a cute 8 year old and now she’s pushing 12. It’s always amazing to see little ones grow and develop. I think I will treat us to a full day of awesome at a putt putt, pizza, go kart place in celebration of our time together. She doesn’t know this yet, so don’t tell her.

In August when I did VEDA with the lovely kids at We Blog We Vlog, we had a calendar of prompts. It was a challenge to get over the performance anxiety. This time, being in front of the camera comes easier but now there is no calendar of prompts. I appreciate the new challenge of coming up with something to vlog every day.

Course I should thank my bestie for throwing me ideas. Thanks, Bestie.

This week’s moments of bliss: ♥ Source Code date with the beau ♥ Reading Bird by Bird during my lunch break ♥ girl talk over coconut tea ♥ afternoon coffee breaks ♥ Rewatching most of E.T. ♥ Waking up to a random nuzzle and then passing out again ♥ cutting across empty parking lots to bypass speed bumps

Question: How do you express your creativity in your life?
