Friday 7 Quick Takes (vol 52)

This week on Totes Awesome Channel, we talk about things people know about us. For my spot today, 3 of the other vloggers join me. Does it blow your mind a little to see us together? It kind of blew my mind.

I’ve mentioned a couple of weeks ago when we talked about our secrets, how nervous I was about meeting the other ladies in Totes Awesome Channel. Nerves gave way immediately upon meeting 3 of them over Mexican martinis. They are all even more fun and delightful in person. There’s totes another few layers of awesome that gets filtered out through pixels. Are you following them all? Here are our links, in case you’re not.

Alan and I bought our tickets for Vancouver this week! I’m so excited. We’re leaving at the end of August and will be spending four full days there. We’re currently seeking recommendations on hotels, places to eat, and things to see and do.

Money is kind of stressing me out. My rent expenses will be going up. Moving expenses are looming. Birthday dinners and presents need to be bought. Weddings to attend. Girl’s weekend in Dallas in two weeks to budget. Vancouver in a month. Getting a dog after that. Ack!

Vlogging Every Day in August

I know I just recently finished Vlogging Every Day in April, but a year ago, I did Vlogging Every Day in August (first year in existence) and it was a phemnomal experience. In fact, that is how I grew to know and adore the Totes Awesome Channel girls. Ashley and Pham hosted a delightful month of bloggers vlogging. By the end of it, after watching everyone’s vlogs and commenting (every. single. day!), I felt like I was leaving August 2010 with a batch of new friends. I think this year, with returning faces and new faces signing, up, it’ll be even more special. I totally recommend this experience if you have the time for it, as it is a big committment.

I’ve been thinking a lot about limited perspective. How we all have it. How it dictates what we see and believe. How widening our perspective should be one of those thirsts driving our life and how we live. How conducive widening our experiences and viewpoints is to eradicating such things as say, racism? Sexism? How do you grow an acceptance towards a demographic of which you are intolerant? You get to know and talk to more people of that demographic. They have hidden layers and agendas and sometimes history of trauma, just like you. Unlimited perception can never be achieved but the pursuit of it is essential.
